When I was fifteen years old I spent an afternoon with, Bette Davis. A personal idol of mine. The afternoon was arranged by my grandfather, a carpenter who had worked for the movie studios in Los Angeles. He had made a great many friends along the way and one of them was close to the film star.

My grandfather loved that I wanted to be an actor. My parents did not.

My grandfather, I was to learn much later in life, attempted to help me by actually setting up several meetings for me with very influential people. My parents nixed them all.

My parents put every conceivable physical, emotional and psychological obstacle in my way to keep me from being involved in this business. A business that, in their opinion, is spiritually, morally and ethically bankrupt.

Another dream of mine was to live in New York. A city my parents found as repellent as my chosen profession. But they certainly aren
